This is our go-to recipe for family get togethers and company because it comes together quickly and it always gets rave reviews. These fish tacos are so flavorful and satisfying but you will feel good and light at the end of the meal.
This recipe is party sized and can be scaled down to feed a smaller crowd. It was developed by my brother-in-law, Slavik and it has been adopted by pretty much everyone in our family. I have had so many requests to publish the recipe so here it is! It’s an easy, excellent fish tacos recipe. Thank you Slavik for sharing your awesome fish tacos with us. I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to ever get tired of this recipe. P.S. They just happen to be gluten free fish tacos!
Seriously though, be generous with that fish taco sauce! The sauce recipe was adapted from Kaylee on All Recipes. We simply doubled it because there never seems to be enough of the sauce ;).
Ingredients for Fish Tacos:
We used tilapia but you are welcome to use any white fish. Salmon or shrimp would be amazing as well!
Fish Taco Toppings:
*Cotija cheese is a Mexican cheese that crumbles when you grate it; similar to feta but much milder in flavor and not nearly as salty. It is inexpensive and found in the refrigerated cheese section of the grocery store.
Ingredients for Best Fish Taco Sauce:
For the fish taco sauce, all you need is sour cream, mayo, lime juice, garlic powder and sriracha. The sriracha gives it a little kick of spice so you can add more or less based on your preference. This taco sauce is essentially a lime crema – the perfect blend of tanginess and heat (print the recipe below).
How to Make Fish Tacos:
1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment or silicone liner. In a small dish, stir together seasonings: 1/2 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper, 1 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp black pepper and evenly sprinkle the seasoning mix over both sides of tilapia.
2. Lightly drizzle fish with olive oil and top each piece with a dot of butter. Baked at 375˚F for 20-25 min. If you want it to get a little browned around the edges, you can broil for 3-5 minutes at the end if desired.
3. Combine all the Taco sauce ingredients: 1/2 cup sour cream, 1/3 cup Mayo, 2 Tbsp lime juice (from 1 medium lime), 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp Sriracha sauce, or to taste in a medium bowl or a large measuring cup and whisk together until well blended. It’s really fun and feels like dining out to serve the sauce in a squeeze bottle like this one.
4. To serve the tacos, toast quickly toast the corn tortillas on a large dry skillet or griddle over medium/high heat.
5. To assemble: start with the fish then add remaining ingredients finishing off with a generous sprinkle of cotija cheese and finally that awesome taco sauce! Serve with a fresh lime wedge to squeeze extra lime juice over tacos.
Mmmm so much sauce! I’m so crazy about this taco sauce. Seriously the best!

Love Tacos? Don’t miss our most popular taco recipes here (the beef bulgogi and shrimp tacos are completely swoon worthy!)
I’m so tempted to make these again for dinner tonight. I will never stop loving this recipe! I hope you all love it as much as we do.
Delicious! I would leave out the cayenne in the seasonings maybe replace with paprika and chili powder as my preschoolers thought it was too spicy. we made a large batch of fish and shrimp and the ENTIRE plate was demolished. I mixed the cabbage, avocado, tomato, onion, cilantro with some of the crema and made a sort of salsa-coleslaw. So So Good!!
Thank you so much for sharing that with me, Lisa! I’m so happy to hear it was a hit with the preschoolers!
Oh my, that sauce! It took all my willpower not to eat it plain. So good. I had made some mango salsa and had some left over after the tacos. Ate it with tortilla chips with a little of the sauce squeezed over, best snack ever! I love your site Natasha, it’s my go-to when looking for a new recipe.
Thank you for the trust, Elise. I’m so glad you enjoyed this recipe and especially the sauce! It is indeed so irresistible.
Made it exactly as written and it was excellent, as are all your recipes. Thank you for another quick and easy week night meal that the entire family loves!
You’re very welcome, Kelli!
Love everything about this recipe but it’s a hard, “NO” on Tilapia. Fresh from the ocean grouper, snapper, cod…all are great in place.
Thank you so much for sharing that with me, Ginny! I’m glad you enjoyed the recipe!
I loved this recipe however I did the fish in a beer batter first, used pickled red cabbage instead of shredded purple cabbage and substituted the Cotija for Feta cheese. Definitely a winner in our house.
Sounds delicious, Bonnie! Thank you for your review. I’m happy you enjoyed this recipe.
Question – the nutrition information says 1 serving – but is one serving one taco?
Hi Paige, yes, this recipe makes 24 tacos- so one serving would be a taco.
I have made these fish tacos at least four times for my family and friends and every time they are praised. The taco sauce is excellent. I made the recipe as written. Fast, easy and delicious 😋. Thanks Natasha!
You’re welcome! I’m so happy you all enjoyed it, Elaine!
I used your recipe this past weekend for a quick dinner plan to entertain our guest with. This is super easy to make. These turned out to be amazing. Very simple and easy to make. Everyone enjoyed them.

I love fish tacos and these were fantastic! Definitely going to be making these often, Barramundi fillets on the grill worked out perfectly and the sauce was delicious!
I hope you love this recipe, Michelle!
Love love love…but I make them with frozen fish sticks baked with cumin and spice. Still taste amazing
Thank you so much for sharing that with me!
This is my Go-To fish taco recipe. Like all of your other recipes, this one is delish!!
Great to hear that this is your go-to recipe, Jennifer!
We make these all time and just love the sauce! What is a good side to serve besides rice?
Hi Shannon, we also love having this with refried beans, chips salsa and guacamole, coleslaw, fries and so much more.
Great tacos! Love the seasoning for the fish and the white sauce is delish.
I’m so happy you enjoyed that. Thank you for sharing that with us, Eldou!
Tried ’em last night with the grandkids. Excellent! I had them make everything; We used cod. After everything was prepped, we got them in a “production line”; One helped with heating the tortillas, the next put the fish on the tortilla and plated them on pre-heated plates (we also used shrimp!), then the next put on cabbage, tomatoes, avocados, red onions, and then the cotija cheese (wow! what flavor BTW), then I put the taco sauce on (another major hit, BTW) and put a nice scoop of Spanish rice and a lime garnish on the plates. Everyone got two fish, and one shrimp taco. Perfect! Plates were brought to the table, and everyone then sat down and we all got to eat together. Everybody loved it. We had New York style cheesecake for dessert, with homemade blueberry sauce. Limeade for drinks, Caribbean music in the background (Thanks Alexa), and we had another meal to add to our rotation!
I’m so glad you and the grandkids loved these tacos, Merk! Thank you for sharing those recipe notes with us!
This recipe is fantastic – I’ve come back to it multiple times.
I cooked professionally for over a decade, and I make very few alterations, unlike recipes I find elsewhere.
Thanks!
You’re welcome! I’m so happy you enjoyed it, Miles!
Best fish tacos I’ve ever had. I have used cod, halibut and bass. My wife is not a fish eater but she ask for these taco’s often.
That is nice to know, Greg! Thank you for your awesome review and I hope you and your family will love all the recipes that you will try from my website and videos.
Winner Winner Fish Dinner!! My husband, who does not like fish, requests this often. This is a go to favorite. Easy and fast to make. Thank you for sharing Natasha!!
That’s so great! It sounds like you have a new favorite, Barb!
My husband is an avid fisherman and we were trying to get creative with all the trout in the freezer. I personally have never had fish tacos and was hesitant about trying them but I am so happy I stumbled upon this recipe. It is going to become a classic in our home! We loved all the flavors and textures. I made mine into a bowl style with rice and all the toppings and it was great too! Definitely give this a shot!
That’s so great! It sounds like you have a new favorite, Hannah! I bet this is so good with fresh-caught fish! Thank you for your wonderful review!
My husband loved these tacos another successful natasha recipe
Great to hear that he loves this recipe! Thank you for the good feedback.
This is our go-to fish tacos and fish sauce dish to make! My family loves it. That fish sauce is a game changer! Keep up the great work Natasha!
Thank you, Mary! So glad to hear that. Thank you for the review.
I’m new to your show, I want to make the No cook cheesecake you had on your show. How do I get the recipe for it
Hi Donna, you can find my cheesecake recipe HERE.
Absolutely Delish! And the fish sauce IS the best, and as a bonus, gluten-free.
Thanks for the awesome review and feedback!
Tried your fish taco recipe for first time tonight, using cod. Loved it and will be using the sauce on lots of other dishes in the future.
Thank you for this delicious recipe.
Isn’t it so good?! I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Phyllis!
Thanks so much for this great recipe! Made tonight for dinner and we loved them! Will definitely be making often, especially during the summer months! Can’t wait to make for my daughter and her partner, they are vegetarians and will love these!
You’re welcome! Thank you for the review.
Super yummy!! We used Feta on ours and since I had pita bread on hand, we used that for our “taco” shell. We loved it. Already added this one to my recipe book. Thanks for sharing!!
You’re welcome! I’m so happy you enjoyed it, Kim!
You’re so welcome, Kim. I’m happy ton know that you enjoyed it using the ingredients that you have on hand.
This looks very tasty, but can I make it without cilantro? Is there a substitute?
Hi Valerie, you can leave out the cilantro and it will still be good.
Out of this world fish tacos. Wow the sauce was excellent. Thanks.
You’re welcome, John. Glad you loved it!
These were awesome! They were the best fish tacos we’ve ever had including out at restaurants. The sauce was delicious and took them to a new level. I did use some healthy type flour tortillas. It was all I had. We will definitely be making them again.
So happy to hear that Sylvia! I’m glad you enjoyed them. These are one of our favorites as well, the sauce is incredible. Thank you for the review.
I came across this recipe in a Google search for sauce for the tacos, made this crema and well I might just put this on everything from now on lol it’s delicious
Awesome, so good to hear that you loved it!
Soooooo good! I’ve made them about 4 or 5 times now. Tonight we lightly fried the tortillas and OMG. Game changer. I have to make this for company next time!
That’s great, Claudia! So glad you enjoyed them.
Hi,
we all love your fish taco recipe – especially the kids. I substitute the tomatoes, onion, cilantro and lime wedges for your amazing “Pico de Gallo”. And of course we use this creamy taco sauce !
Instead of Cotija cheese I used goat feta. Also very nice.
Thanks a lot for sharing your food ideas !
I don´t have a Facebook or Instagram account – but if you would like to see my pictures of your recipes please feel free to check my website at mylittlediner.com
Greetings from Germany!
Thank you for sharing your wonderful review.
Do you have favorite brand of frozen fish you use? Or do you use fresh fish only?
Hi Lynn, I cannot think of any specific frozen fish brand but if I can, I use fresh.
I’m a Natasha too! So naturally i was drawn to this recipe. Lol. Im always looking for new fish taco recipies for my family because we do one Taco night a week and don’t do much beef. It was delicious! And the sauce was amazing. I doubled the recipie for the sauce because we all love to go heavy on our sauces. I also couldn’t find Cotija cheese so I used Queso Fresco but was still super delicious. This will be a staple taco recipe in my household from now on.
That’s a great substitute, thanks for your good comments and review, Natasha! I’m happy that you loved this recipe.
I just made these yesterday, and everyone LOVED them! There was only a little sauce left (which I will be enjoying with my lunch today) – everything else was gone! 🙂 I slightly reduced the amount of cayenne pepper for the tilapia seasoning, but I don’t even think my daughter noticed, so I will add the full amount next time. I love how easy this recipe is and how delicious these tacos were!
I did pickle some red onion and red cabbage in separate jars, and added those as topping options, too.
Thank you so much for a fantastic recipe. I will definitely make this again.
You’re welcome! I’m so happy you enjoyed it, NK! Thank you for sharing that great review with me!
I just ran across this recipe and LOVED the way they turned out! I used cod, instead of tilapia, and I didn’t have cumin so I used a chili seasoning packet (contained cumin). DELISH!! Oh, and the sauce is swoon-worthy!
Awesome,so glad you loved this recipe!
I absolutely love watching you cooking amazing meals and I just love how much energy you have and make the videos fun.
I’m so glad you’re enjoying my videos, Jennifer!
We eat these at least once a week now, amazing recipe! Thank you 😊
You’re so very welcome! I’m glad it’s become a favorite.
Brilliant flavor! The combination of flavor and texture is perfect. Lime is a must. The sauce – doubled the recipe and so glad we did! I was reluctant about the red cabbage, but it all worked. This one is a keeper!
Yay to finding a new favorite! I’m so happy you loved this recipe!
I left dinner to the last minute tonight so was really hoping that the 30 minute time was going to be true… it totally was! Dinner was on the table in half an hour to rave reviews from the whole family. Love how the fish is hands-off once its in the oven so you can prep all the toppings. Definitely don’t skip the fish sauce, its the best.
Love it! Thank you for your great feedback and review, Carla. I’m so glad you enjoyed it and yes, definitely do not skip the fish sauce.
Made these for the family last night and it was a wild hit! My husband had 4 massively packed tacos and compliments abound from the entire family. He said I “knocked it out of the park” and “no need to go out for fish tacos anymore!!” Thanks so much for the recipe DELICIOUS!! It is my go to now for sure – used tilapia and it was phenomenal! Thanks again
I’m so glad it was a hit, Mikki! Thank you so much for sharing that with me.
Making them again tonight! My family and I love all of your recipes!
Thank you for the review, Heidi. I am happy you love this recipe.
Made these at lunch time for the family. Huge raves, thanks for sharing!
Anne
You’re welcome, Anne. I’m glad your family enjoyed it!
This was my first time ever eating fish tacos, so I was really apprehensive, but this recipe was a huge success!
I used cod instead of tilapia, but followed the recipe exactly, and wouldn’t change a thing!
Wonderful! Thank you for sharing, Susan. And thank you for the great review!
I made the fish tacos tonight. My husband wouldn’t stop hugging me. Kinda weird…haha. He said there is NO reason to ever eat out for fish tacos again! I have never had much luck cooking fish, but this was fantastic. So simple!
That’s so great! It sounds like you have a new favorite, Mandy! Thank you for sharing this with me!
Whenever someone visits, I ALWAYS make these fish tacos. It’s absolutely everyone’s favorite- including mine!!
These are a hit each time! I’m so glad they’re your favorite, Thomas!
Making it tonight for dinner. What do you suggest serving with it?
Hi Catherine, we love it with a variety of sides, but one of my readers said it best: ” I serve with side of corn, black bean, cilantro and minced roasted red” Yum! I hope you try it soon!
Hard to believe being of Eastern European background, but I don’t like cabbage. Anyways my question is can one just use lettuce in lieu of cabbage?
Yes, that would be fine.
You have to read and re-read the recipe and instructions because you won’t know what temp and when to heat your oven (for just one example) – usually recipes begin by telling you “preheat your oven to X” this has you getting everything together without any preparation instructions
Good recipe, tastes better cold than warm. I would half or remove the salt though (and add as desired after).
Thank you for your feedback and review, Erika.
I’ve made these a handful of times now and they are great! I do cut the salt down to about 1/2 tsp and I add a sprinkle of cayenne not as much as the recipe says. Also add smoked paprika! Use fat free sour cream and low fat mayo since I do weight watchers. Corn tortillas that I get from the Mexican store (I will never buy grocery store corn tortillas again!) I do want to try a different fish cuz sometimes tilapia is a little too fishy tasting. I also made a cilantro lime cole slaw. I’ve tried it with just the purple cabbage too and it’s good either way. The seasoning is amazing tho! I do a little more cumin, I do a tsp. I want to make a big batch of seasoning and put in a mason jar!
Thank you, Amanda. I’m happy you enjoy this recipe.
I would love to know what other fish you try, so please come back and share your experience with us. 🙂
This is my go to recipe for fish taco’s! Love the spices and how easy it is to make.
Great to hear that, Mandy! Thanks for sharing that with us.
Needs a lot more spice. On the fish as well as in the sauce.
Hubby went ice fishing and just brought home a bunch of fish. Do you think a lemon would work for the sauce instead of lime because that’s what I have on hand? Thanks
Yes- you could use a lemon. It will alter the taste just a bit but should still be delicious.
Thank you for the reply and also this delicious recipe! The lemon worked in the sauce and it was a wonderful Valentine’s day dinner.
Great to hear that, Riley!
I’m making this tonight but using fresh haddock. Tilapia is not a healthy fish. Just a recommendation to suggest another white fish.
No worries and sounds good. Thank you for your suggestion, I hope you like it!
Anyone try this recipe with Ahi Tuna? Definitely one I want to try and have some tuna out for dinner tonight.
Hi Jessica, I have never tried that to advise. If you do an experiment, please share with us how it goes.
Made fish taco’s for the first time yesterday with this recipe. I’ve always hesitated eating fish tacos as has not sounded appealing but used this recipe and loved them. I used Cat Fish chunks (cubed them) as had some on hand. Very delicious. Cooking the cat fish chunks via these fish cooking instructions would be wonderful by itself. A bit of a kick.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Greg!
These were really good! I made them for my hubby and added just a smidge more Siracha than recommended and they turned out phenomenal! Thank you so much for the recipe, will be making again for sure!
Great to hear, Ryan! Thanks for the awesome feedback.
Haven’t made tacos before so I’m not clear on how many would serve one person. I understand the full recipe makes 24 tacos, but how many people does it serve? I’m only making it for two so I’m trying to figure our how much to reduce the recipe by. Thanks!
Hi there, it really depends. The serving size is 24 tacos but you can click on the serving size to adjust the recipe ingredients too if you want to make less.
Amazing recipe. The sauce makes the meal for sure! I never even considered baking the fish, I’ve always fried fish tacos, this is so much easier. Will definitely be making this again!
That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review, Kash!
Made these and LOVE them! How do you recommend REheating? Only 2 of us in the house and have ALOT leftover
Glad you loved it, Chuck. We enjoy it best fresh, but that may work! I would recommend finding a way to reheat it without overcooking it. Perhaps the oven or a skillet.
Love these! Made the first time using cod instead of tilapia, since we only eat wild caught fish, but cod was too bland. Made the 2nd time using shredded chicken, seasoned exact same way as the fish recipe. These were absolutely amazing! Officially my fave taco recipe! Hubby loved them too! Can’t wait to make these again! Thanks Natasha! 🙂
Hello Brandy, that’s great to hear! Thank you for your good comments and feedback.
Hubby caught a bunch of perch on a nearby lake so of course those fresh fish went into this amazing recipe the same day. This recipe is addicting! Natasha, your recipes are practical yet special. You make cooking new recipes fun! God bless you and the family 🇺🇦
That sounds awesome, fresh ingredients are always the best. Thank you for your good comments and review!
Made these tonight for dinner and they were delicious! My boyfriend even said they were the best fish tacos he’s ever had. Looking forward to adding these to our dinner rotation. Thanks for a great recipe!
Wow! That’s so great! It sounds like you have a new favorite!
I used haddock fish sticks because that is what we had and just wow!! We’re raving about it still the next day. Had plenty of garnishment left so I used the same seasoning mix on a large roast chicken breast and added about 1/2 cup water for dinner tonight and that was just as delicious! I slightly over measured the mayo and greek yogurt (instead of sour cream) so I doubled the garlic, lime and sriracha. Tastes like a fantastic restaurant fish taco, can’t wait to use fresh fish next! Thanks!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for the wonderful review, Sam!
super yummy! i love that you suggested cojita! i love cojita even though it’s smelly. so tasty and refreshing i loved it and so did my mother and brother!
The perfect cheese to go with fish tacos! I’m so happy you enjoyed them!
Looks yummy! How many tacos per serving? What size are Small corn tortillas—street taco size or regular size?
Thanks, Leah. The whole recipe is for 24 tacos. We used small white corn tortillas for this recipe.
Best taco sauce ever! I mixed the shredded cabbage with it and added it to the tacos with other ingredients: delicious! Made it again and used it on pulled pork: even better!
That sounds great! I’m happy to know that you enjoyed the recipe. Thank you for the review!
Used some fresh perch I had just caught hours prior. Those tacos were the best thing I’ve ever had in my life. I’m grinning ear to ear I can’t wait to cook those for a crowd.
I also fried my fish with some fish fry to get that extra bit of crispiness. Wow.
Wow, that’s a fantastic comment, Al. Thank you so much for sharing that with us!
We had some halibut and were looking for a new way to use it. Your recipe was perfect! Even my husband, who doesn’t cook, was able to make it and they were delicious!
Wow! That’s just awesome, Tracy! Thank you so much for sharing that with me.
I made this recipe today and would like to start by saying the fish seasoning is WICKED GOOD! I will use it on fish even not for tacos! Also the sauce is TO DIE FOR, I wanna put it on EVERYTHING now (haha)! No fault of your recipe, I did not have Cotija cheese on hand (only Sharp Cheddar). Next time I will be sure to get right cheese. Thank you so much for this recipe, it is a KEEPER!!!
Sounds like a great plan! Great to hear that you enjoyed this recipe and the sauce too.
How about using halibut? Only white fish I have in my freezer.
Hi Mary Beth, I haven’t tried using that fish for this recipe. I think it’s worth trying, if you do an experiment, please share with us how it goes.
I love these tacos, have been making them for over a year now… What is the serving size? I’m assuming 1 taco? I’m using the WW tool and trying to track my points so I have all the information I need to add this recipe but I want to make sure I’m correct on the serving size.
Hi Ellen, just for future reference, the serving size is towards the top of the recipe card and the nutrition is per serving. In this case, it is per taco since the recipe makes 24 small tacos.
I’ve never been a fan of fish tacos. I’ve even tried quite a few of the restaurants who have the “best fish taco” claim and I’ve been underwhelmed every time. For whatever reason, I wanted some yesterday and decided to make them myself. I found and made this recipe. Let me just say OMG! For me, it was the way the heat of the fish and creamy coolness of the sauce melded. I will be making the recipe many more times in the future. Absolutely amazing. Thank you.
You’re welcome! I’m so happy you enjoyed it, Tami! This is always a hit in our home!
LOVE these. Easy and delicious. I was wondering if you have any suggestions for side dishes to make to go with it ?Thank you!
I’m so happy you enjoyed that. Thank you for sharing that with us, Cassandra!
Everything was delicious but a teaspoon of fine salt was way too much for the fish. It made the whole taco too salty. I’d definitely reduce it to a half teaspoon next time I make these.
No worries, feel free to reduce the salt level of the recipe and adjust it according to your preference.
I used cod instead of tilapia. Easy recipe, and great taste!
I’m so happy you enjoyed that. Thank you for sharing that with us!
I’m making mine with cod tonight too. I prefer cod to tilapia. Glad to hear it was good.
The ingredients in Taco and simplicity of fish prep was lovely. The fish sauce was pretty bland
Hi Katy, I’m glad you liked the tacos, although I think you are the first to say that the sauce was bland – I wonder if you changed anything or skipped or substituted any of the ingredients. It’s normally super flavorful and this is probably our #1 most popular recipe on our site.
we are going camping and we would love to make this do you think it will be ok to use Frozen Tilapia
Hi Brooke, I would thaw the tilapia in the fridge first or quick thaw in water. I would not cook it from frozen.
We make this at least once a month! Thank you for this awesome recipe.
I’m so happy this recipe made your regular rotation, kate! That’s so great!
Do you happen to have the nutritional facts for just the sauce?
Hi Michelle, unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get that. I’ll make sure to remember to do that next time.
After making this recipe a million times, dismally decided to leave a review lol
I have made this recipe 100 times and it is so delicious, easy and healthy – which I love!
My family members loved it as well; the colors and flavors are so perfect together!!!! 😀
Yummy sauce, and I am currently doing keto so I just omit the tortillas and still amazing!
Can’t express how happy I am with this recipe!
Thanks for sharing this yummy creation with us Natasha ! Kudos
I’m so glad this was a hit, Lachae! Thank you for sharing your amazing review with me!
I made these tacos tonight and they were amazing!! That homemade sauce was everything. My fiance and boys loved them, they came back for thirds, lol. Wonderful recipe, thank you again 🥰
Hello Shayla, thanks for the wonderful feedback! I’m happy to know that your family loved these tacos.
Hi! I made these tacos with tilapia and the recipe was amazing but I didn’t love the taste of the fish. What are the best alternatives in white fish?
Hi Bella, this recipe is pretty versatile; you are welcome to use your favorite fish. Several of our readers tried it with cod also.
Hi! Im trying to scale this recipe down to just 2 servings, can you help me?
HI Aeryn, if you click on the serving size, you will be able to adjust the ingredient list (not the actual recipe instructions, but at least the ingredient list) to help you with preparing the ingredients.
My partner and I made this last night and it was delicious! The baked fish recipe is a great replacement to battered fish for our dishes.
Hello Linh, thank you for sharing that with us and for giving this recipe a review! Glad you both loved this recipe.
I just made as your recipe creamy chicken Alfredo pasta. It’s so delicious. Everything is perfect. Tasty and healthy. Thank you so much for sharing us. Thank you to your mom too. You referred your mom when you cook. Love your videos. You are amazing. Thank you.
You are so welcome, Jasmine. It is a pleasure, I hope you’ll love the recipes that you will try!
Tasted delicious! I was wondering if the serving size on the nutrition is per taco?
Hi Amber, the number of servings is listed towards the top of the recipe card and the calorie count is per serving.
I made this tonight and when you put everything together like the recipe reads, they were delicious! You can still make your own little adjustments. I did not and they were DAMN GOOD! Natasha’s Kitchen is the best!! Make the tacos! Have a great day too!!
Perfect! I’m glad you loved how it turned out, Erin. Thanks for sharing that with us!
I’m trying these tonight. Natasha’s Kitchen is my go to for 99% of my recipes.
Thank you for your trust, Erin. I hope you love all the recipes that you will try!
So I made them last night and they were delicious. I followed the recipe exactly and when you put your taco together and bite into all that flavour, OMG fantastic. Natasha’s Kitchen is the best!!
Wonderful feedback, Erin. Thank you so much for sharing that with us!
Haven’t tried it yet, but can’t wait! We’re trying to steer ourselves away from Taco Tuesdays because we’re all getting fat and unhealthy, so we’re doing Tuesday Board Game night, and I’ll make these. Still tacos, but a little better for our hearts. Thank you for sharing!
You’re welcome and I hope it becomes your new favorite.
These tacos are excellent. My husband and I enjoyed the tacos very much. Thank you!
Great to hear that you both enjoyed these tacos!
Have you ever even been to Mexico? Street Fish Tacos use deep fried fish,,, always.
And, what is your point? Is this recipe any less valuable to you because it has baked fish? For health reasons, I cannot eat deep fried fish. I am happy to find this recipe. If I weren’t happy with it, I would just move along and not make a remark like that. Recipes are ever evolving, all around the world.
Juck, perhaps you haven’t heard the term “creative license” before?? That aside, where do you see a claim that these are “authentic”? Also, I’d bet my life that people FROM Mexico make traditional/authentic Mexican recipes healthier in all sorts of ways–including substituting non fried foods for fried ones–and with great results too. One more question–have you tried EVERY fish taco made in Mexico?? Or just the fried ones? Asking for a friend.
My reply is to just fry your fish. Everything else can stay the same. Not as healthy, but that is your choice if you prefer it to baked fish. Might want to just try it this way though. Might like it just as well.
So good! This recipe made me change my mind about cilantro.. love it now!
Wow!! I’m so glad you loved it, Julia!! This is one of my favorite recipes, and I’m happy you enjoyed it also!
This is the best recipe! My first time making fish taco and I love love loveeeed it! The sauce was to die for! I had to make double the recommended amount because it was just that good!
You can use basically any fish. The cooking method was spot on and make the fish succulent.
Thank you Natasha!!!
Exactly! The sauce is a must, but this recipe is so versatile! I’m glad you enjoyed it, Ti!
How long will the sauce last in the fridge?
Hi Matt, This sauce keeps well covered in the refrigerator for a few days. It can be used on almost anything!
Yep! As good as everyone says. I got a ‘Best fish tacos I’ve ever tasted’ comment. I served them by filling the tortilla with the fish and pouring the sauce myself, and then letting them decide on the other ingredients. That way there was enough sauce. Thanks for the recipe!
That’s so great! It sounds like you have a new favorite, Ben! The sauce is a must-have, so good call on poring that!
The sauce is to die for!! Just made them for the 1st time tonight hello yummy!!!
That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review!
These were fantastic! I opted to use store bought fresh deli pico de Gallo rather than deal with chopping tomatoes, onions, and cilantro. I also tripled the recipe for the rub and the sauce. I cooked the fish and also cooked some boneless skinless chicken thighs to freeze for quick dinners in the future. The seasoning was great and the sauce was amazing. I especially liked that this fish taco recipe was baked and not breaded. Every other fish taco recipe I’ve tried was breaded, which I’m not a fan of- plus this is a much healthier option!
Will absolutely make this again!
The sauce is a must-have! I’m so glad you enjoyed this recipe, Valerie!
I am not a big fish eater but these were awesome! So easy to cook. Even my 5 year old loved them! I did cut back a bit on the cayenne (for said 5 year old) but there was still plenty of flavor and a nice spice to them. Keeping this recipe!
That is the best when kids love what we moms make. That’s so great!
This is our new family go-to recipe! So easy to prepare With great results. We used haddock fillets which worked perfectly.
Hello Kelly, so happy to know that this is your new favorite recipe! Thanks for your good comments and feedback.
Soooo good. The family raves about this heathy meal. I substituted Fage plain Greek yogurt for the sour cream.
That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review!
This was amazing all the flavors popped such a great combination so fresh these will be my fish tacos forever!!!
That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review, Jennifer!
I was looking online for a fish taco sauce recipe and came across your recipe. I have to say it is the best sauce!! I cheated and made the quick frozen beer battered fish in the air fryer, but had all the other toppings on hand. The sauce on the tacos was sooooo good! So easy to make as we already had all the ingredients on hand. Thank you Natasha!
Hi Racquel, good to know that the recipe turned out so great! I’m glad you enjoyed it, you’re so welcome.
Yep, these were delicious!! No leftovers. I followed the recipe exactly. Thanks! 🙂
You’re welcome, Jacy! Thanks for your great review.
I use this recipe so often that the proper thing to do was to personally say thank you so much! I had searched for the perfect fish taco recipe for a long time until I found this one. We have tried both the Fish and Shrimp taco recipes and love them both.
We use grouper and flounder for the fish tacos and both have been great. We use defrosted uncooked Key West shrimp for the tacos and they’re perfect. We use Nellie & Joe’s Key Lime Juice or key limes for the sauce and it really gives it a good flavor vs plain limes. We do use a little less of cayenne. I make enough extra fish so we can have salads using the fish and crema sauce the next day.
We have taco Tuesday every week so this recipe has been tested numerous times at our house! Again, thank you for such a great recipe that has been shared with lots of friends here in FL.
That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review, Laura! Taco Tuesday is a must!
Delicious! A family favorite!
That’s so great! That’s the best when you find a family favorite!
Does the fish do well reheated the next day for leftovers? If so, what is the best way to reheat?
Hi Angela, we enjoy it best fresh, but that may work! I would recommend finding a way to reheat it without overcooking it. Perhaps the oven or a skillet.
YUM! That’s all I have to say. Such a good recipe I loved it so much!! Definitely would recommend – it was super easy too 🙂
I’m so happy you enjoyed that. Thank you for sharing that with us, Kelly!
These were delicious and easy to make. Will definitely make them again.
That’s just awesome! Thank you for sharing your wonderful review, Charlotte! I hope you make these tacos over and over – they’re that good!
These tacos were amazing! We didn’t even have all the trimmings on hand but seasoned up some cod and cooked per recipie and made a lime crema (less mayo – since we had none) and added some pickled jalapeno band Mexican cheese blend we had on hand and also flour tortillas. Still was delicious!! I can only imagine how good they are as written. Thanks for sharing! Will def make again!
You’re very welcome! I’m glad you were able to make it work, thanks for your good feedback!
I could eat these every day, too! Best fish tacos we’ve made at home by far. Substituted shallots and halved grape tomatoes for the red onion/roma and they were so good. Picky kids ate the tilapia, too! Thank you for sharing your recipe.
Me too, Jennie! Me too! Tacos are my absolute favorite, and these are popular for a good reason! I’m so glad you and your kids loved these!
Natasha I want you back. Where did you go. Loved your style and those most delicious recipes

Holy cow delicious!! I copied the recipe to the T with the toppings and Delish white sauce but to make it even easier since we’ve had a exhausting weekend we baked frozen beer battered fish in the oven and wow definitely a keeper recipe thank you!
Sounds perfect! It’s always great to see comments like this, thank you for sharing that with us!
These are delicious!! My whole fam loves them including my 1yr old 🙂 making them again tonight! Adding these into our weekly rotation for sure. Thanks!!
That is the best when kids love what we moms make. That’s so great!
This is my first time ever leaving a comment on a recipe on the Internet and boy when I tell you this recipe brought it out of me! My husband and I tag teamed the prep while the fish baked and used the recipe as a solid foundation for the tweaks we made for our taste. I handled the fish and followed the recipe with the exception of adding onion and garlic powder to the seasoning mix. The hubby freestyled the taco toppings and sauce mixes using the recipe as a base. We like to put our sauce on the tortilla first and go overboard on the cotija cheese and that first bite tho……!!!! Spectacular! This will be saved for the rotation, periodt.
That is fantastic! I’m glad you both enjoyed making this recipe and loved the result too. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
This was absolutely delicious! I used cod and left out the cilantro (because we hate it). We will be making this again!
I love the idea of making cod fish tacos. Yum!
A friend made these for us, I had never eaten a fish taco, and after this dinner (made with fresh caught snapper) I can’t wait to make it myself again and again!
That’s so great! It sounds like you have a new favorite!
First one I ever made fish tacos or ever ate them! My husband has had them out before. He said these were the best he ever had!! I loved them! Thanks
That’s awesome feedback, thank you for sharing that with us, Laura!
These fish tacos were delicious! My family enjoyed them especially with the incredible sauce. Thanks!
That’s great, Sue. I’m glad your family enjoyed this recipe!
This was really good! My husband is not a huge seafood fan, and he went back for seconds. Everything about this recipe is fabulous! My whole family loved it.
We always go back for seconds with fish tacos! I’m so happy you enjoyed that, NK!
This is our go-to recipe for fish tacos – although I tend to use cod instead of tilapia and use shredded chicken (with the same spice mix) for those that don’t like fish. Perfect, delicious tacos every time! Even better with homemade tortillas. Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing that with me, Sian! I’m so happy you’re enjoying our recipes!
Wow! Everything about these tacos were delicious, easy, and quick to make! I will definitely be making it again! All of your recipes never disappoint!
I’m happy to see your feedback, Charlene. Thank you for sharing!
I made the tacos tonight and they were delicious. I wouldn’t change a thing. The taco sauce is killer. Thank you !
Wow, thanks for your great comments and review, Alison. Happy to hear that you loved this recipe!
Hi Natasha! I have made this twice. Two weekends in a row it was so delicious. One question though, we’re do you find “light sesame oil? I looked at 4 grocery stores and unable to locate.
Hi Susan, we have it in our local grocery store. I’m wondering if it’s carried geographically.. I recommend searching online also.
Yummy! Will try this today for dinner. Can’t wait to see the result. Thank you Natasha for your beautiful recipes. I’ve tried most of them and they are delicious. Love your show.
Aww, You’re welcome! I’m so happy you enjoyed it!
